Conserving resources on many levels

Waste incineration produces significant quantities of incineration residues. This slag is normally sent to landfills without further treatment. 

In line with the principles of the circular economy, we place great emphasis on conserving resources when treating waste. For this reason, a plant for the demetallisation of waste incineration residues is operated at the Langes Feld site. This process recovers metals from the delivered slag. In this way, landfill space is conserved, whilst primary raw materials can be substituted in metal production.
